Yonex Nanogy 98 String Review by ERR Badminton Stringing Kuala Lumpur
This is Nanogy 98 badminton restring review:-
When hitting with the Yonex NBG98 string, you can hear a clear sound, particularly when performing smashes and lobs. In addition, we have received feedback that the string is more durable than Yonex BG66. Currently, if you use BG66 for leisure games, you may notice the main issue is tension loss. Although BG66 provides great repulsion and hitting sound, players are unhappy with the tension loss. If this is the case, you can try the Nanogy 98 string and set the tension between 24-27 lbs. The string has a similar medium feeling but the tension loss problem is not as severe. This feedback comes from our members.
Review by Eric: I used to string my Yonex Nanogy 98 at 27 lbs for my leisure games. When smashing, I could hear a hard, clear sound, and I was also able to make good returns on defensive shots.
Below are the DT test results for the Nanogy 98 badminton restring experiment at 28 lbs.
First Day 62 – 59DT
Second Day 54 – 56DT
Third-Day 51 – 53DT
Review of the NBG98 String by ERR Badminton Restring KL
Firstly, the Nanogy 98 badminton restring provides a sharp feeling despite its 0.66mm gauge. Secondly, as per the manufacturer’s description, it offers excellent repulsion for high clears and defensive shots. Thirdly, most leisure players prefer NBG98 because it provides both high repulsion and durability. In terms of control, you will have better control when netting compared to using thinner strings like BG Aerobite. This is because thinner strings have inconsistent repulsion.
We don’t see many national or international players using thinner strings, and the thinnest they use is 0.65mm or BG Aerobite. These players are well-trained and can achieve excellent control during play. Therefore, they just need a string that offers good control and durability. Additionally, if the string’s repulsion is too great, their netting may be too high or out of court. If you are a player who values control, the Yonex NBG98 string is the ideal choice. Despite its high repulsion, it still provides good control, as its 0.66mm gauge is not too thin.
Understanding the Stringing Process for Yonex Nanogy 98
Generally, we always use pre-stretch mode when restringing rackets with Nanogy98 string to improve the tension loss problem. However, there are other ways to reduce tension loss, such as properly tightening knots during restringing. Unfortunately, most shops in Malaysia and Singapore use the pre-string method, which is not acceptable according to International Stringing Standards. This method involves loading the racket, which already has strings, onto the stringing machine.
Many people are unaware of this because they have no knowledge about restringing and choose the pre-string method because it saves time for the shop owner. However, this method is never acceptable to ERR, as it can critically damage the durability of the string and result in inaccurate tension. In summary, many badminton players have commented that the Nanogy 98 string’s repulsion and durability are good, and some even find them better than BG66 Ultimax. Finally, many members prefer our Nanogy 98 badminton restring method because we follow International Standards, and all our tools are from Yonex Japan.
